I was graduated from the school of life science in Sichuan university, and about to complete the 5 years PhD degree in Du-lab. Following the work by Qiye (cell, 2022), I was interested in research on the endogenous mechanism of the accumulation of abnormal miRNA with 1nt shorter 3’ ends in tumor cells. By in vitro assay and small RNA seq technique, we found an enzyme functioning as a miRNA 3’ end trimmer, which can increase the ratio of 1nt shorter miRNA isoform in RPE-1 cell when overexpressing. Since this enzyme is ubiquitously expressed in all cancer and normal cells, the difficulty of our work lies in digging out the special factor in tumor cells that activates it.
